On 25 March 2026, the Belgian Embassy hosted a concert by pianist Olivier De Spiegeleir. Known for his “piano recitals with commentary,” De Spiegeleir presented an evening that combined performance with historical and literary context. We welcomed over 100 guests who signed up via our previous WeChat invitation. Appologies that we couldn't host as many as we would have wanted due to the limited space, but stay tuned, there will be more public events coming up!
The concert opened with remarks from the Ambassador Bruno Angelet, who spoke about music as a universal language and highlighted Belgium’s role as a gathering place for European artists over the centuries. He referenced figures such as Victor Hugo and Wagner, and noted the legacy of Queen Elisabeth, who founded the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1937 and the Royal Music Chappel in 1939 to bring artists together across national borders.
